Broetry is the art form I invented to break the back of my own poetic insecurities: the voice that says you’re not fit to tie Yeats’s bootstraps, you don’t write pretty enough, or what you have to say should probably stay in your Notes app because it lacks gravity or artistic merit.
Broetry steals from everywhere, pillages freely, and breaks rules without even pretending to feel bad about it. Inventing my own genre was liberating—and it conveniently saved me a semester of learning poetic forms I would’ve ignored anyway.
