I Will Lose Nothing: The Final Days of Dennis Sochor - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

Dennis Sochor was scheduled to die at Florida State Prison. The state called him condemned. Scripture says otherwise.

In these six pieces, author, activist, and death row spiritual advisor Jeff Hood accompanies Dennis through his final days...a man who refused a last meal so he could fast and pray, who renamed the gurney his "journey gurney," who gave away everything he owned while the state prepared to take the only thing left. Kept from the execution chamber by a deadline Dennis never knew was running, Hood was left with a phone line...a voice going with his friend as far as a voice can go.

What emerges is a theology forged in the death house. A meditation on presence and absence. A sleepless vigil. A final call. A confession of the guilt that comes with standing at a distance. And a closing sermon on the four most dangerous words Jesus ever said: "I will lose nothing."

Florida believed it was ending a man. It was only delivering him.

I Will Lose Nothing is a witness against the machinery of state killing...and a declaration that nothing given to God can ever be lost. Not Dennis. Not his victim. Not even the ones who did the killing. Nothing. No one. Nothing.
