The Enchantments did not begin with a single dragon, or a single choice. They began the way mountains happen - slowly, from four currents that had been moving toward each other since the beginning of things, unaware of one another, until the day they collided.
Tiamat is an ice-dragon who trusts a wall of ice to answer her the same way every time - until one morning it doesn't, and she has to decide whether to follow a change she can't yet prove is real. Fafnir carries a fire that came back from something that broke it, and isn't sure it can ever be trusted the way it once was. Vritra has spent her life negotiating with water rather than commanding it, and finds herself listening to a current that seems to want something from her. Nidhogg is patient beyond her years, and follows a root that points toward a place none of her kind have ever needed to go.
None of the four set out to build a country. But when ice, fire, water, and root converge on an unclaimed plateau, something is born that none of their elements could have made alone - a fifth voice, with nowhere yet to stand, and no one yet to sing it into being.
The Fifth Voice: The Enchantments' Call is a lyrical epic fantasy about earning a place in the world rather than being given one - and about what four strangers owe each other once they've made something new together.
