Superintendent Larry C. Baker, Jr., has served as the Pastor of Sheepfold Church of God in Christ in Houston, Texas, for the past 44 years. Superintendent Baker's ministry can be likened to that of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon; when speaking with him about ministry, his entire being electrifies as he shares the vision God is unfolding for the future of the church.In 1980, Superintendent Baker married Terrye Faye Washington. Together, despite medical reports stating they would never have children, the Lord blessed them with two choice blessings: Larry Charles III and Virginia Sidney Deloris (who now rests with Jesus). Superintendent Larry Baker and Supervisor Terrye Baker have faithfully served together in ministry for 44 years.Prior to his journey as a shepherd, Superintendent Baker attended Saints Academy in Lexington, Mississippi, and completed biblical studies at the C. H. Mason Bible College while attending Texas Southern University. He graduated from Texas Southern University with a major in Biology and a double minor in Chemistry and Mathematics.Throughout his tenure, Superintendent Baker has held numerous leadership positions within the church. He has served as Sunday School Superintendent of the North Houston District, State Program Chairman, Assistant State Sunday School Superintendent, and State Sunday School Superintendent for TSE#1. He was also the organizer and Chairman of the first AIM (Auxiliaries in Ministry) in TSE#1-a role he stepped away from in obedience to God's call to build a sanctuary, which was successfully completed in 2005. Throughout his decades of dedicated service, Superintendent Baker has been recognized with numerous honors and awards for spiritual leadership, community outreach, and faithful service in the Acres Homes Community.
