What if the anxiety, confusion, and restlessness you feel aren’t signs that something is wrong — but invitations to go deeper?
In The Holland Method, Licensed Professional Counselor James Trone shares a powerful story of loss, awakening, and inner transformation following the suicide of his brother at age twenty. What began as grief became a lifelong exploration into healing, identity, and the deeper currents shaping human experience.
Blending personal narrative with psychological insight and grounded spiritual reflection, Trone introduces a framework for navigating life’s three essential states:
• Oriented — when life feels stable and clear
• Disoriented — when everything falls apart
• Reoriented — when a deeper, truer self begins to emerge
Drawing from clinical experience and personal transformation, this book offers readers a new lens for understanding anxiety, emotional patterns, grief, and the stories that shape identity. It challenges surface-level solutions and instead invites a return to presence, courage, and radical acceptance.
The Holland Method is the path.
For readers who want structured exercises, journaling prompts, daily practices, and practical tools for integration, The Holland Method Workbook provides the practice — a guided training plan designed to bring these insights into daily life.
Together, they form a complete map for psychological growth and self-actualization.
This is not a quick fix.
It is an invitation to do the real work.
A path inward. A return to wholeness.

James Trone, M.A., LPC-MHSPJames Trone is a Licensed Professional Counselor and writer based in Nashville and Chattanooga. His work centers on helping people return to wholeness-guiding them through the layers of loss, trauma, and inner conflict that shape the human story. Before becoming a therapist, James worked in finance and commercial real estate, a season that taught him much about success but little about the soul. He later earned master's degrees in both Theological Studies (Reformed Theological Seminary) and Counseling (Trevecca Nazarene University), where his focus turned toward the deeper intersections of psychology, spirituality, and human transformation.James has advanced training in trauma-informed modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). His integrative approach draws from attachment theory, somatic awareness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and contemplative practice. He believes that healing begins when we learn to listen-to the body, to our pain, and to the quiet truth within.Alongside his clinical work, James is an author and artist under the name Dawnos, creating music and meditation experiences that weave together presence, beauty, and the art of slowing down.At the heart of his work-whether in therapy, writing, or art-is a single intention: to help others live from their most authentic and connected self.
