Same Shoes, Different Walk opens up with 11-year-old boys Nick and Jayden (one Black and one White) getting ready for school. At first things seem normal, but we quickly see the subtle microaggressions that happen to people of color. Of course being young, kids feel like something is different and question it to themselves, but decide to ignore it and power through the day. While both kids are playing in class instead of learning, their teacher interacts with Nick and Jayden differently. We watch as Nick, Jayden and their friends navigate this reality, and the reality of the outside world. Same Shoes, Different Walk tells the story of a pivotal season that changed Nick’s life as he learns the hard truth about race and the power of your voice.
