I sang a song to you in my sleep.
Can’t quite remember how it went.
The melody now drifts in and out . . .
with sounds of tiny feathers.

Midnight birds clean their wings
in moonlit tulip fountains.
Their chorus, swift, escapes my mind—
still, the meaning lingers.
