In the year 2126, Kadren Serras was a trained solo pilot for space freighters operating in the Solar System. He liked being alone for weeks and months at a time, unlike most people. On his ship, he had built not one but TWO baby nurseries for himself, one for when he was a baby girl and the other for when he was a baby boy. It all worked well, and he was content.

And then came the day he was forced to take a passenger on board for 6 weeks. His solo life was about to be interrupted.

The 'long between' was the phrase used to describe a long solo spaceflight. Now... it was not going to be solo any more.
