Hope Beyond the Wire is a fictional story about Anna Bauer, a Wehrmacht Helper nurse captured in August of 1944 and shipped to America where she was held in the Huntsville, Texas POW camp. Her journey became a testament to her courage, intelligence, and compassion for her captors.
Gradually shedding a lifetime of Nazi indoctrination, she learned and believed in the American way of democracy, freedom, and opportunity. Anna also learned about love, especially the love of one man, Corporal Clayton Smith. Their love would lead to trouble from friends and the military.
