Money Play gives curious kids ages 8–12 200 structured money questions and situations to think through. Everyday choices about buying, saving, prices, work, taxes, debt, and wealth become starting points for bigger questions about value, fairness, responsibility, power, and the systems around us.
Five thinking tools guide the book:
Across five chapters, children move from what things are worth to how prices work, then to who gets to make money decisions, what we owe each other, and what “enough” means. Along the way they encounter questions involving sunk costs, changing prices, wages, taxes, inheritance, markets, debt, inequality, and competing claims of fairness.
Five Think Labs provide longer exercises, and The Ultimate Money Think Challenge brings all five tools together in one extended investigation.
The prompts can be used independently, with a parent or sibling, around the family table, in homeschool learning, or as discussion material in a classroom or small group. Some questions are personal. Others are about systems. Many have no single obvious answer.
The aim is to help children give reasons, notice assumptions, consider other perspectives, examine consequences, and stay willing to revise a view when new information matters.
Money Play is for children who see a price tag and ask the more interesting question: why?
