Inhaltsangabe

There is a music underneath the world.

It keeps time in the labors of the hands and the orbits of the sky, in the doors that open when you knock and in the quiet turning of the moon. The Spectral Orchestra is one hundred poems written from inside that music: cosmological harmonics in the old lineage of the music of the spheres, sung in a voice that is plain, warm, and quietly strange.

An invitation opens the book. Then come six parts of twelve (labors, engravings, hymns, orbits, stations, thresholds) and twenty-eight moons, one for every face of the night. Every poem is a small room with the light left on: a traveler who draws the shortest road through every city, a man who makes himself a bell so the lightning can find its way home, a rope that asks to be untied gently, a moon that has no need of you and is here anyway.

Read it as poetry, or let it read you. Both are correct.

She looked at the knot until the knot saw itself.

For readers of Mary Oliver, Rumi, and The Prophet, and for anyone who keeps a book by the bed for ten quiet minutes a night. The hundred are counted; the last name is yours to bring.

Come in.
