Chasing Unicorns by Roshan B. Karki is a fictional and imaginative novel that follows the life journey of Ron, a young man from a remote village in Dolakha, Nepal. The novel combines realistic experiences with dreams, fantasy, spirituality, politics, and science fiction. At the center of the story is Ron's lifelong desire to achieve something extraordinary, represented by the mysterious unicorn that repeatedly appears in his dreams.

Ron grows up in a rural environment and becomes an excellent student. He regularly stands first in his class and develops a strong interest in education, English, literature, and the outside world. His childhood is shaped by the Himalayas, village life, teachers, friends, and his imagination. An English volunteer teacher named Braine introduces him to new ideas and gives him an interest in foreign countries. Ron begins dreaming about seeing the wider world and achieving a remarkable future.

As he grows older, Ron moves from his village to Charikot for further education. His new environment exposes him to competition, friendship, music, romance, and social changes. He experiences his first romantic feelings and faces emotional difficulties. At the same time, political violence and the Maoist conflict in Nepal influence his understanding of society. The unicorn begins appearing in his dreams as a mysterious figure connected with peace, hope, and a better future.

Ron eventually dreams of studying in the United States. After facing financial and administrative difficulties, he receives an opportunity to study at Loras College. His journey to America represents a major turning point in his life. He continues to pursue his ambitions and becomes involved in extraordinary adventures. His relationship with Roshina develops into love, and they eventually marry. They later become 007 agents and receive training in espionage, combat, and telepathy.
Ron’s life then becomes increasingly connected with global politics and humanitarian work. He is invited to the White House and meets President Barack Obama. He becomes an adviser and works with the President to address poverty and other problems facing humanity. Ron believes that human beings possess hidden potential and that this potential can be used to create a better world.

Ron and his companions participate in a humanitarian mission in Sudan, where they work to reduce famine and poverty. Later, Ron returns to California and becomes governor. He continues his mission of improving society, reducing poverty, and creating a better future. Despite achieving fame, political power, wealth, and influence, however, Ron does not forget the unicorn that has appeared in his dreams since childhood.

The climax occurs when Ron travels to Yosemite with Roshina and Nalina. A white rabbit leads him into a forest, where he finally meets the unicorn he has dreamed about throughout his life. The unicorn offers him a choice: remain in the human world, filled with suffering and misery, or enter a magical world of happiness and bliss. Ron chooses to follow the unicorn into this mysterious paradise.

Overall, Ron Chasing Unicorns is a story about dreams, ambition, love, imagination, power, spirituality, and the search for a better world. The unicorn symbolizes Ron’s deepest dream and his lifelong search for something beyond ordinary material success. His journey suggests that achieving worldly success is not necessarily the end of one's dreams; the true journey continues through imagination, hope, and the search for meaning.
