Inhaltsangabe

While researching his new book, a washed-up author becomes entangled in a web of violence and murder. Aided by a liquor store owner and a former Texas Ranger, he finds himself drawn into underworld dealings far beyond his comprehension and abilities.

This short story by newcomer Slade Ciric combines a hard-boiled detective narrative with modern Western and buddy-cop tropes, all held together by dark humor and character chemistry.
