The story is pre-dominantly based on true events which happened around Halloween a few years ago. The characters, school and town are all based out of Mountain House, CA. However, the arrival of a monster is completely fictitious.
The story is about two sisters who are visited by a strange guest, who takes the shape of the mother to scare and to have fun.
