A village priest and a man who used to be a priest sit in a church refectory in February and talk for three hours about God, love, fungi and the impossibility of the world. Neither of them knows that everything either of them says will come true, and that none of it will be of the slightest use.
Three conversations, each between two of three people who are never in a room together: the priest and the defrocked man; the priest and the woman who paints icons she does not believe in; the defrocked man and the same woman, at one in the morning, over a bottle of communion wine and a fable about a toilet.
