Inhaltsangabe

Always wanted to learn Canasta, but found the rules a little daunting? This friendly, picture-filled guide gets you playing with confidence, one easy step at a time.

Canasta is one of the great card games: a sociable, team-based game that swept the world in the 1950s and has been loved ever since. This book teaches the classic game from absolute zero, in plain language, with clear colour diagrams of the cards on every key idea. No card-game experience needed.

Inside, you will learn:

• The 108-card pack and what every card is worth

• How to build melds, the sets of matching cards that score your points

• The wild cards (jokers and twos) and how to use them well

• The special red threes (a lovely bonus) and black threes (a handy block)

• The simple rhythm of a turn: draw, meld, discard

• How and when to scoop up the whole discard pile, and what "freezing" it means

• The canasta itself: natural and mixed, and why you need one to go out

• The first-meld minimum, made simple

• Going out (and going out concealed for a bigger bonus)

• Scoring made friendly, and how to play to 5,000 to win

• A full hand played out, step by step, so it all clicks

• Beginner strategy, etiquette, and the common variations you will meet

Packed with extras you will actually use:

• Clear, colourful diagrams of the cards, the melds, and every key play

• Chapter recaps and a "Try It Today" idea in every chapter

• A quick reference card, FAQ, and glossary

• A setup checklist, a 12-question quiz with answers, score sheets, and a practice log

Perfect for:

• Complete beginners who want to learn the game the easy way

• Family members and friends learning Canasta together

• Anyone invited to a Canasta evening who wants to hold their own
