Inhaltsangabe

Pictures with Poems brings together the original photography and poetry of John Douglas Pritchard.

The idea behind the collection grew from something deeply personal. After watching his mother live with dementia and eventually losing her to the disease, John became increasingly aware of just how precious our memories can be, and how easily the moments that make up a life can disappear.

Photography became a way of preserving those moments. But sometimes a photograph seemed to hold more than an image. It carried a feeling, a memory, a thought, or even a story. John began pairing his photographs with original poems inspired by what he saw and what each image made him feel.

Along the way, the project began teaching him something else. Nature is constantly reminding us that life moves in seasons. Flowers bloom and eventually fade. Leaves appear, change colour, and fall. Water moves on. Landscapes change. Moments arrive and then become memories. Rather than holding tightly to everything that passes, John began to see these natural cycles as lessons in accepting change and learning when to let go.

That lesson became part of what he hoped to share with others: life is precious not because everything lasts, but because it doesn't.

From sweeping landscapes and quiet waters to flowers, wildlife, everyday objects, humour, and unexpected moments, Pictures with Poems , Book One invites you to slow down, look a little closer, appreciate what is here today, and recognize the beauty that can be found in change.

Every photograph and every poem in this collection is John's original work.

This newly combined edition brings together material originally published in Pictures & Poems Volumes 1 and 2, creating one expanded collection and a new beginning for the Pictures with Poems series.
