This final volume in the critically-acclaimed series of Haydn String Quartets contains the two quartets opus 77 Haydn's last complete quartets and the incomplete two-movement opus 103. The volume also includes the opus 42 quartet, a work of more modest proportions and less technical demands than the rest of Haydn s quartets (included here, out of its chronological sequence, in order not to disturb the logic in the preceding volumes of giving a set of six quartets, as designed by Haydn, in each volume.

Simon Rowland Jones is renowned for his performer-focused editions, in which he presents all the evidence of the sources in such a way as to encourage the performers to choose the way in which they would like to perform it. The publication includes a preface and performance guide by David Ledbetter and features 'fold-out' page turns to avoid difficult page turns.
