The book exposes the ‘root causes of Africa underdevelopment’ that need addressing before ‘lasting solutions’ can be reached. One of these is the modern African nation state, which is an extension of the Western modern state, designed to service foreign interests. This explains why there is more interests in political issues than any other issues. This interference affects both economic and political independence which are sine qua non conditions for development. Enforced ‘underdevelopment’ keeps beneficiaries afloat. Mutilated indigenous civilisations form the artificial nation states where conflicts through ethnic and religious groups, the haves and have-nots, baseless political parties and meaningless elections, etc. are orchestrated. The force from within that makes an egg hatch is absent in the artificial and enforced institutional and legal frameworks. Regional integration is difficult without national integration. ‘Personal’ integration, too, is required as mental colonisation is still alive and a problem to development. Colonial terms, such as ‘Africa’, names of artificial nation states, mental and physical borders, the imposed powerful and uncontrollable nation states, etc. are part of the root causes of Africa underdevelopment. Rhetoric of corruption, mismanagement, democracy, governance, human rights, etc. covers up hidden agenda. Rights are afforded not legislated or preached. Replacing leaders with stooges does not auger well with the rhetoric. Cultures of death and silence even when orchestrated conflicts graduate into genocide, industrial emissions killing 60% of the world animals, birds, fish, insects and plants only since the 1970s, desertification through deforestation, nuclear weapons threatening humanity, etc. do not quite fit ‘civilisation’. The difference between death in poverty and death in affluence is academic.
