Agro and Food Processing Technologies: Proceedings of NERC 2022 - Hardcover

Dr. Goud is currently working as Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Guwahati. He completed his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur in 2006. Before joining IIT Guwahati between 2002-2003 he worked as Team member in the environmental auditing team at DDU Gujarat, 2006-2007 he worked as Lecturer at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus and between 2008-2009 worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. Till date, Prof. Goud guided 14 Ph.D. students at IIT Guwahati. Presently, he is supervising 09 Ph.D. students in diverse fields of biomass for the production of biofuels, bio-lubricants and oleo-chemicals, extraction of natural plant products (essential oils, oleoresins, food colors, biopesticides, nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals) by using subcritical and supercritical fluids as well as the processing of non-edible oilseeds. He has published more than 138 papers in international peer-reviewed journals that have received more than 6000 citations (with an h-index of 35.6) and 18 book chapters and made presentations of his research at several national/ international conferences. He has been awarded/filed 3 Indian patents in the field of bioethanol, biodiesel, and enhanced recovery of lipid from microalgae. He has also been awarded the RGYI, Scheme from the Department of Biotechnology with major funding. He has also been awarded Visiting Scientist, Federal University of Rio De Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil from June 6 to July 3, 2018, under DBT sponsored Indo-Brazil project. He also completed several funded projects from DBT, CSIR, and DST. He has active collaboration with a country like the US, Canada, Gifu University Japan, Federal University ofRio De Janeiro (UFRJ) Brazil, National Sun Yassin University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He is a life member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Sea buckthorn Association of India and International Society of Food Engineering.

Dr. Anandalakshmi holds B.Tech. (Chemical Engineering) from Bharathidasan University, Trichy; M.Tech. (Chemical Engineering) from Annamalai University, Chidambaram and Ph.D. (Computational heat transfer and fluid flow) from IIT Madras. After a short stint of a postdoctoral fellowship at IISc Bangalore, she joined IIT Guwahati and currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Guwahati.  Till date, Dr. Anandalakshmi guided 3 PhD students at IIT Guwahati. Presently, she is supervising 6 PhD students in diverse fields of computational heat transfer and fluid flow, process modeling and simulation, solar thermal energy conversion andradiation, and food and material processing. She published around 50 international journal publications in diversified areas of chemical engineering and science. She also completed funded projects from DST, SERB, and MHRD.

This book focuses on sustainable agro and food technologies for the northeast region of India and provides holistic insights into relevant and contextual scientific and technical advances in the agro-food sector. Agriculture is an important livelihood avenue for many residents of northeast India. Low-cost scientific and technological intervention can transform agricultural farm produces and generate farm waste into processed value-added products. This book will serve as a valuable resource to further enhance the linkage between managerial aspects and technological knowledge systems in this field and eventually catalyse potential knowledge frameworks for the long-term prosperity and sustainability of bio-diversity-rich North-east India.  It emphasizes the research culture that needs to be adopted for the most relevant food and agro-processing technologies for the sustainable growth and prosperity of the region.
