Xinzhou Dong is a Professor of Tsinghua University, the head of Power System Protection Research team, the director of the Electric Power Systems Research Institute, Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, and the director of Beijing International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Green Energy and Power Safety. Prof. Dong was born in Shaanxi, China, in 1963. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, in 1983, 1991, and 1996, respectively. He continued his Postdoctoral Research with the Electrical Engineering Station, Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, from 1997 to 1998. Since 1999, he has been with Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Prof. Dong is an elected IEEE Fellow, IET Fellow, and CSEE Fellow. He serves as the Chairman of IEEE PES Protection and Control technical committee, China, Trustee of CES, Member of the technical committee of CIGRE/CIRED China, Convener of Cigre B5 WG55, Convener of IEC TC95 AGH4, Member of IEEE PSRC Fellow WG. He is a visiting professor of the University of Strathclyde, UK, Chief international professor of National Taipei University of Technology, Talents Program of Shaanxi Province, and Distinguished Professor of the Shaanxi University of Technology. He is also an expert with the special allowance from the State Council of China.
