Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, with lacquer mixed with gold dust. Rather than discard broken things… or try to fix them so their flaws can’t be seen, this art seeks to repair that artefact in a way that makes it better than new. This art realises that the flaws… aren’t. Fragments, is Kintsugi of the Caribbean male. It recognises that a broken man cuts soul, like a broken plate cuts flesh. It acknowledges that no one tries to put him back together. It points out how he’s swept aside: Recycled back into society as need dictates. Fragments gives him a voice… Will you listen?
