The Teacher’s Edition is designed for teachers who are currently teaching French in junior high schools or Middle Schools. This is a material to complement the Student’s Book Au collège, French - level 1.
The objective of this book is to provide teachers with some methodological training, in theory and best
practices from the expertise of some authors and specialists in foreign language teaching in the classroom. The Teacher’s Edition not only compiles recommendations of different authors and language specialists, their approaches and procedures in language teaching, but also offers ideas from the author of the present edition and an overview of approaches to different contents, examples of exercises, and procedures that teachers can adapt to support and enhance their lessons at school.
In this book, teachers will find an approach to The Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages, the scope and sequence of topics per units from the Student’s Book Au collège – Level 1,
explanations of contents that are commonly difficult for students, examples of exercises and activities that
teachers may assign in class that cope with the different student’s learning styles, enhance the students
speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and reinforce the learning outcomes and communicative
objectives in each unit of the Student’s Book. This Teacher’s Edition also contains the transcripts of the
listening exercises that appear in the Student’s Book, different ways of assessment, tips on grammar,
pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling and suggestions for lesson planning, delivering and assessing the
lessons in order to conduct successfully the teaching learning process of French as a foreign language in the classroom.
Finally, this book is in correspondence with the curriculum and guidelines from the Ministry of Education, Modern Language Unit in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, and is the result of many years of experience in the field as a foreign language teacher, feedback from colleagues and observation of the students' performance in class. Teachers may find this material a valuable resource to support their lessons in order to keep the teaching process fun and engaging.
