This new book gathers a selection of impressions from Ephameron's travel diaries. The artist uses observational drawing and painting as a way of engraving the memories and surroundings deeper into the brain. A compact but thick book, collecting 320 pages of recollections from 2011-2017. Ephameron's work explores a sensitive side of the world, where the small and intimate dramas of life are documented. Everyday feelings and thoughts are recreated with images and text, capturing moments in life. Ephameron has published her illustrations in De Standaard, De Tijd, Knack and The New York Times. She also curates and participates in group and solo shows all over the world.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Ephameron holds master's degrees in both Fine Arts and Illustrative Design, and currently teaches at two art colleges in Belgium while preparing her PhD in the Visual Arts, researching artistic autobiography in graphic narratives. Wij Twee Samen (2015), her most recent book about her father's struggle with dementia, was met with critical acclaim.

De hybride kunstpraktijk van Ephameron (Eva Cardon) leidt haar al meer dan vijftien jaar voor tentoonstellingen, residenties, kunstprojecten, en beurzen naar locaties over de hele wereld. Na een tijdje begon de veelzijdige kunstenares met het documenteren van deze reizen in schetsboeken waaruit ze beelden op social media deelt. Het schilderen naar waarneming bleek een doeltreffende manier om een herinnering ("recollection") dieper in het geheugen op te slaan, doordat de omgeving intenser beleefd wordt. Meer dan bij het bekijken van snelle snapshots van dezelfde plekken worden de belevenissen bij de maker zo op intensere wijze terug opgeroepen. Dit compacte maar lijvige boek verzamelt in 320 pagina's een selectie ("collection") beelden op locatie van 2011 tot 2017.
