Mayra Flores is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants, of her East San José community and mother to her daughter and her words. She is a San José State University grad, studying journalism and creative writing - with a focus on poetry.Mayra has been previously published in East Side Magazine and Love Letters to San Jose, has performed her work at the San José Museum of Art as part of the Hip Hop(e), Jazz & Storytelling series, at History San José as part of 2024's Women's Heritage Day and San José State University Speak Poetry event. Mayra stands on the shoulders of luchistas and mujeres indomables.
