Edgar Rice Burroughs was born in 1875 in Chicago and is best known for creating Tarzan and Barsoom (Mars). He worked in various fields, including as a soldier, cowboy, and businessman, before becoming a writer. His big break came in 1912 with Tarzan of the Apes, which launched his literary career.Burroughs' Tarzan novels were hugely popular, leading to numerous sequels and adaptations in film, TV, and comics.
