The Swedish Companies Act 2005 in translation = Aktiebolagslagen (2005:551) i engelsk översättning

There are about 300 000 limited companies in Sweden. The basic rules relating to limited companies are now set forth in the new Swedish Companies Act (SFS 2005:551), which entered into force the first of January 2006.

One of the guiding principles for the new Companies Act has been to make the Act as lucid and user-friendly as possible.Thus, for example, rules specifically applicable to public companies, are to be found at the end of each chapter.
Companies whose articles of association fail to comply with the new Act must, at the first annual general meeting held after the Act entered into force, adopt a resolution to adapt the articles of association to the new Act.

Det finns ca 300 000 aktiebolag i Sverige. De grundläggande reglerna för aktiebolag finns nu i den nya aktiebolagslagen, som trädde ikraft den 1 januari 2006. Den nya aktiebolagslagen finns i Svensk Författningssamling, SFS 2005:551.
En av ledstjärnorna för den nya aktiebolagslagen har varit att göra lagen så överskådlig och lättillgänglig som möjligt. I den mån det gäller särskilda regler för de publika aktiebolagen så finns dessa regler sist i respektive kapitel i den nya lagen.
Bolag som har bolagsordning som strider mot den nya lagen skall på första ordinarie bolagsstämma efter lagens ikraftträdande fatta beslut om att anpassa bolagsordningen till den nya lagen.
