Set against the background of cultural and social discourses with regard to security in Spain and the Netherlands, this collection of narratives focuses on daily life at the railways after the terrorist attacks in Madrid in 2004 and London in 2005. This book highlights the dangers, joys, and tensions of work in this sector as well as the routines of these employees in light of heightened security measures. It also discusses how this issue has moved to the top of the political agenda and what role it plays in public debates concerning security and risk.
