In the 1990s, net art burst onto the scene as a radical reflection on the role of technology in contemporary art. Netkunst, toch al nooit erg geliefd bij instituten voor mediakunst en sinds de opkomst ervan grotendeels genegeerd door veel tentoonstellingsmakers en critici, houdt nog steeds stand als een 'non-beweging' die zich ophoudt in de kieren en gaten van de hedendaagse mediacultuur. Josephine Bosma werkt sinds 1993 als journalist en critica op het gebied van kunst en nieuwe media. Zij verdiepte zich als een van de eersten in netkunst. Haar pionierswerk is internationaal gepubliceerd in boeken, tijdschriften en catalogi.
