The United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) which had effectively 'ruled' that territory for two and a half years handed over the country's administration to the government of the newly-independent Democratic Republic of East Timor on May 20, 2002. C'est certainement une des originalitis de cet ouvrage que de permettre au chercheur de lire les acteurs directement impliquis dans ces opirations se dipartir des pricautions verbales et des formules d'usage auxquelles leur position oblige souvent recourir. En plus de fournir au chercheur travaillant sur le maintien de la paix une mine d'informations qu'il serait autrement difficile de dinicher, cet ouvrage ouvre aussi une fenjtre sur le fonctionnement de l'ONU dans ses difficultis quotidiennes, loin des salles de presse de l'East Side, avec une remarquable sinciriti.
