The Macintosh version of this monumental and essential reference is optimized for Mac OS 8.1 and 9.x it will also run in OS X in classic mode. Those familiar with the printed version will find the CD-ROM version familiar in appearance, exceedingly fast, and easy to navigate. Searching is possible by subject, name, and full text. Features such as bookmarking and annotation allow users to personalize the text. The text is fully cross-referenced, with terminology and proper names highlighted in two different colors. Both lead to various options: vocabulary terms to one or more definitions, proper names to a list of possible hits, each designated with percentile of match and volume and paragraph notation of the name's location within the text. The cross-references can contain awkward matches; fair , highlighted in "for it is only fair," for example, led to suk; literature, highlighted in "Talmudic exegetic literature," led to Islamic definitions of literature.
