Illy Collection: A Decade of Artist Cups by Illycaff: A Decade of Artist Cups by Illy Caffe - Hardcover

Inhaltsangabe

To inspire whoever drinks a cup of coffee in a bar or at home. To engage not just the sense of taste and smell, but also the mind and the spirit: this was the revolution undertaken in 1992 by Illy, who has since brought a new appreciation to the nuances of a daily ritual that is too often performed quickly, automatically and distractedly. The Illy collection is born of a love affair with contemporary art. The idea is simple: have the world drink coffee, produced by the family since 1933, from an original cup. There are two ingredients: the Illy cup - precision designed and engineered for the ideal diameter, volume and tactile quality of the rim - and the genius of a contemporary artist who freely expresses him or herself on this white "porcelain canvas". Produced over ten years (1992-2002), the miniature art gallery that is the Illy collection represents a collaboration with 62 of the most important contemporary artists today, including Marina Abramovic, Louise Bourgeois, David Byrne, Sandro Chia, Mario Giacomelli, Jeff Koons, Joseph Kosuth, Jannis Kounellis, Nam June Paik, Mimmo Paladino, A. R. Penck, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Robert Rauschenberg and James Rosenquist. This book documents one of the most comprehensive collections of art objects in daily use.
