Il volume presenta il progetto artistico realizzato da Carlo Valsecchi per il Gasometro M.A.N. n.3 di Bologna, oggetto di un recente restauro che, nel riconsegnarlo alla città, ha dato nuova forza al paesaggio di cui fa parte. Come spiega il curatore, negli spazi dell’architettura che Valsecchi ritrae, da un lato si percepisce il mistero più profondo e il fascino di questi luoghi, dall’altro si avverte, sottile seppur evidente nella scala che l’artista ha ritenuto opportuno utilizzare, la sacralità della rappresentazione e la forza, alle volte coercitiva, che questi luoghi portano con sé. Il volume accoglie un’intervista al fotografo raccolta da Luca Massimo Barbero, e apparati biografici. Edizione limitata in copie numerate.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Charlotte y Peter Fiell son dos autoridades en historia, teoría y crítica del diseño y han escrito más de sesenta libros sobre la materia, muchos de los cuales se han convertido en éxitos de ventas. También han impartido conferencias y cursos como profesores invitados, han comisariado exposiciones y asesorado a fabricantes, museos, salas de subastas y grandes coleccionistas privados de todo el mundo. Los Fiell han escrito numerosos libros para TASCHEN, entre los que se incluyen 1000 Chairs, Diseño del siglo XX, El diseño industrial de la A a la Z, Scandinavian Design y Diseño del siglo XXI.

The book presents the artistic project conceived by Carlo Valsecchi for the M.A.N. n.3 gasometer of Bologna, object of a recent restoration that, in returning it to the city, has given new strength to the landscape of which it is part. As the curator explains, in the architectural spaces that Valsecchi portrays, on the one hand one perceives the deepest mystery and fascination of these places, on the other one feels the sacredness of representation – subtle though evident in the scale adopted by the artist – and the sometimes coercive strength that these places bring with them. The volume includes an interview by Luca Massimo Barbero with the photographer, along with a biographical apparatus.
