Denise Burt tells the stories of how a selected 24 of her CD designs were made. The stories are told chronologically - spanning a decade - and tell of her development as a graphic designer: she started out as a music novice and had to learn to enquire and engage with the ideas behind the often complex music, in order to create more meaningful designs. Through her assignments, we meet a diverse range of composers and artistic universes. Each short story is illustrated with the artwork created for the project.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Denise Burt was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1972 and educated at Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland (1990-1993). She lived in London from 1994 to 2000 and worked as a freelance designer and illustrator for several advertising and design agencies. Since 2000 she has lived and worked in Copenhagen. She has worked as an independent graphic designer for a number of customers in both Denmark and abroad. She works with a variety of media and formats, but the most important part of her production has been the design of music publishing. Between 2004 and 2014 she produced designs for over 280 CDs for record companies as Dacapo Records and Cantaloupe Music (Bang on a Can's New York-based record label).
