This is the fifth volume of a comprehensive series which covers about 100,000 species of Coleoptera known to occur in the Palaearctic Region. The information provided for each species is as follows: primary taxonomic information of all available names in the genus and species levels published by the end of 1999; the taxonomic information below subfamily, organized alphabetically; and the type species of genera and subgenera, including synonyms. Distributional data of species and subspecies is given per country. Detailed distributional information for strict endemics is provided, and introduced species are indicated. The series is a collective work of about one hundred coleopterists from Europe, Japan, America, and Australia.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Dariusz Iwan, Dr. (1993), Museum and Institute of Zoology Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, is Professor of entomology and Head of the Zoological Museum. He has published monographs and over 150 entomological papers.

Ivan Löbl, Dr. (1968), Curator emeritus, Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Geneva, Switzerland. He has published monographs and over 350 entomological papers and was co-editor of the previous volumes of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleptera.
