The History of Communication has evolved in tandem with shifts in political and economic systems, and by extension, with systems of power. Communication can range from very subtle processes of exchange, to full conversations and mass communication. The history of communication itself can be traced back to the beginnings of social life. The printing technology was a historic milestone in the way in which people relate to each other, for it creates a public sphere in which the most important issues are debated today. Due to technological change, mass media play a crucial role when understanding the evolution of the contemporary world.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Doctor en Comunicación, Profesor Ordinario de Comunicación Pública en la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Navarra, con una amplia experiencia docente. Investiga en Historia de la Comunicación y en los estudios sobre Comunicación Pública, en la línea de investigación de la Facultad en Medios y sociedad. Ha sido Director de la revista ‘Comunicación y Sociedad', de la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Navarra. Especializado en metodología de la investigación en comunicación, ha sido responsable de varios proyectos entre los que destacan una encuesta a periodistas españoles e iberoamericanos. También ha centrado su atención en estudiar la representación de los valores en los medios de comunicación.
