Within the project to promote international contemporary art through the presentation of major private collections, Fundación Banco Santander presents for the first time in Spain the contemporary art collection of Grasyna Kulczyk, one of the most important in Poland.
Under the title Everybody is Nobody for Somebody, the selection that makes up the venue is organized in three main blocks: abstract and conceptual Art; women in the Visual Arts and pieces with references to the collective memory and history.
The curator, Timothy Persons, wants to capture the personality of Grasyna Kulczyk as a collector, and show why she is considered one of the most relevant cultural references of Poland.
Although in Everybody is Nobody for Somebody we see excellent works by well-known international artists, the exhibition will be used primarily to inform the public of the work undertaken by the main artists in Poland between 1945 and 1989, time in which the country was under communist rules.
As a testimony of this exhibition, a magnificent bilingual Spanish-English catalogue - with an insert in Polish, attractive design, careful reproduction of all the works, text in charge of the curator, and an interesting exchange of e-mails between Anda Rottenberg and Julian Heynen, help us to understand and celebrate this collection.
