Author of the much-acclaimed two-volume 'India's Wars' series, Air Vice Marshal Arjun Subramaniam is a retired fighter pilot who has mainly flown MiG-21s and Mirage-2000s and commanded a MiG-21 squadron and a large flying base. An alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College, National Defence Academy and National Defence College, he has a Ph.D. in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras. A warrior-scholar of rare accomplishment he has been a Visiting Fellow at Harvard and Oxford Universities and a Visiting Faculty at Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Ashoka University and Kautilya School of Public Policy. He was also the President's Chair of Excellence at National Defence College, New Delhi till recently. He has written extensively for refereed journals at home and abroad, national newspapers, magazines and websites on areas related to military history, national security, air power and leadership.
