This book is the compilation of articles written by the author focussing on rural development programmes mainly on self-employment and wage employment visa-vis poverty related issues. The chapters covered specific issues like Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY now NRLM) SGSY was in effect in the country by merging, six self-employment programmes namely IRDP TRYSEM DWCRA SITRA GKY and MWS; BPL issues; food security; MGNREGS etc. Since NRLM is in nascent stage so many case studies on SGSY, MGNREGS and other self- employment programmes have been incorporated here which are off-shoot of the studies carried out by the author. However, major issue is reduction/elimination of poverty from rural India which has been dealt in length here.
