Changing Gender Equation with Special Reference to Nagaland

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. 168 p. Includes: index, bibliography. Gender inequality is a problem of mindsets and attitudes. Patriarchy influences the worldview of women as much as it does that of men. Hence women themselves resist change unless they are trained to think out of the box of patriarchy. Naga society is steeped in patriarchal values, and gender seems to be only a politically correct stance we talk at meetings and discussions. Gender disparities still abound. We have come a long way, but we have only made progress toward changing the situation rather than eradicating it. The present volume meticulously prepared by the two young Naga scholars is also in line with the same trend. The collection of essays contributed by the cross-sections of professional sociologists, journalists, administrators and a few young researchers provides a panoramic view of the changing gender equation in Naga society.
