Er arbeitete auch für einige Zeit mit dem Anthropological Survey of India, der Regierung von Indien und der North Eastern Hill University, Shillong und führte intensive Feldstudien unter verschiedenen Stämmen und Kasten in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland und Uttar Pradesh durch. Professor Sengupta hat insgesamt etwa 210 Forschungspublikationen, einzeln und mit seinen Studenten und Kollegen in verschiedenen renommierten nationalen und Praktikanten veröffentlicht
