When divorced Scotswoman Alison Caldwell decides to leave the comforts of life in Switzerland and move to Brazil´s biggest city, São Paulo, she is quickly trapped in a world of unfamiliar surroundings where nothing is what it seems or goes according to plan. She has to reinvent herself professionally and finds herself working for a multinational group and at the center of power in the corporate world with its absurdities, deceitfulness and corruption.
In personal terms she has to cope with the remnants of her past life which include a former lover, a young Brazilian admirer, a dynamic Swiss business tycoon and a repentant ex-husband who travels to São Paulo to plead with her to come back to him.
