This research focuses on the capital structure of financial institutions. The main objective is to investigate the effects of dividend policy on the capital structure of cooperative credit unions in Cameroon. The specific objectives were; to assess the effects of dividend policy on debt to equity, to evaluate the effects of dividend policy on return on equity, to determine the relationship between dividend policy and profit margins, to assess the impacts of dividend policy on current ratio, to determine the effects of dividend policy on price earnings ratio and to know the impact of dividend policy on cost of equity. The study was quantitative in nature. The study made use of secondary data from the financial statements of these cooperative credit unions with the help of CAMCUL within the accounting periods. The sample size was made up of 20 cooperative credit unions which were randomly selected. Ratios were used to present and interpret data. The data was analyzed following the mean standard deviation, and the use of alpha coefficient of 0.05 to determine the significant effect. The finding show that dividend policy has a significant effect on capital structure.
