The book Crude Oil Prospecting and Environmental Rights Violation contends that for many oil-bearing communities in oil producing-states of Nigeria and indeed around the world, the net effects of oil exploration to the environment have not only been devastating, but have also highlighted the double standards that are often applied by oil Multinational Corporations in their dealings with host communities. This study examined oil multinational corporations, environmental rights violation and its impact on insecurity in the Niger Delta. The Relative Deprivation and the Frustration-Aggression Theories were adopted to factor the frustration and deprivation resulting from frequent environmental rights abuse and how this translates to insecurity in the Niger Delta. The author averred that the continued activities of oil multinational corporations in the Niger Delta has resulted in environmental rights abuse and have fueled restive conditions among the inhabitants of the region. This book is a must read as the ideas contained herein will make for greater social-ecological justice as a way forward in addressing the challenges of environmental rights abuses.
