This book presents a mathematical model for the co-infection dynamics of diphtheria and HIV, focusing on their transmission and control. It incorporates optimal control strategies such as safe sex practices, prophylaxis for caregivers, sterilization of medical equipment, public health awareness, and improved hygiene measures. Using Pontryagin's Maximum Principle and numerical simulations, the study evaluates the effectiveness of these interventions. A cost-benefit analysis identifies the most efficient strategies for reducing both infection rates and economic burden. Results show that combined prevention and treatment measures significantly lower the prevalence of both diseases and their co-infection in the population.
