This paper provides an updated overview of the system based on more than 100 unpublished documents and official reports released in 2025 by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Planning, reflecting data primarily collected in 2022. Overall, Iraq's health system has achieved progress in immunization, hospital capacity, and policy integration, but requires urgent reforms in workforce planning, maternal and child health, disease control, and quality of medical education to ensure equitable and sustainable improvements.
