Electrical and electronic waste is a pressing issue that poses economic, social, and environmental challenges. These wastes are both toxic and contain valuable materials. Currently, electrical and electronic waste accounts for approximately 10% of municipal waste. Notably, over 80% of this waste consists of valuable materials, while hazardous and special pollutants make up around 7.2%.In the Middle East, Iran is one of the fastest-growing markets for electronic waste. On average, obsolete electronic devices in Iran generate approximately 4 million tons of waste per year. Managing this type of waste remains a significant challenge for many countries, including ours.

Hadi Erfani is an environmental scientist from Iran, specializing in environmental science, sustainable development, waste management, and recycling. His research interests span multiple fields. He has made three inventions in medical, polymer, and chemical engineering, for which he received a grant.
