A selected sample of a wide range of giant carbonyl clusters have been analyzed and categorized. They range from the group D -1 to D 24 . They are from the metal elements of groups 8, 9 and 10 of the periodic table. The isomeric shapes of these groups constructed for the respective carbonyl clusters obey the fundamental principle of 18 electron rule at each nodal point. The metal carbonyl clusters have many industrial applications including catalysis and synthesis of novel chemical clusters, therefore, the analysis and categorisation of the same may help in the selection of more efficient catalysts and clusters for industrial applications.

Enos Masheija Rwantale Kiremire graduated with BSc(Hons) degree majoring in Chemistry from, University of East Africa, Makerere University College, Uganda in 1970. He had the opportunity to be taught briefly by an inspiring notable visiting chemist, Prof. C.A. Coulson. He later did a PhD, graduating in 1977 March at the University of New Brunswick.
