Alkaloids are a group of naturally occurring chemical compounds that contain mostly basic nitrogen atoms. This group also includes some related compounds with neutral and even weakly acidic properties. Alkaloids are produced by a large variety of organisms which includes bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals. Alkaloids from different chemical groups have been widely analyzed by different LC methods. Several separation and detection methods have been developed and applied for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of plant materials, extracts, dietary supplements, body fluids, and other natural samples. The book contains a general introduction to alkaloids, classification of alkaloids, extraction of alkaloids, and separation techniques for alkaloids.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Foram Vaghela is a Research Scholar at the Department of Chemistry, Saurashtra University-Rajkot under the guidance of Prof. Hitendra Joshi, Professor and head of the Department. Her deep interest is in medicinal and natural product chemistry. She has a patent on the detection of the sex of date palm trees. She published 1 Book and 5 Int. papers.
