Wireless networks are playing a very important role in the present world. Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) are an extension of wireless networks. These networks play a crucial role in every field of human life. They are used in places where simple wireless networks cannot be used. They are significant in real-world applications such as military operations, home automation, and wireless sensor networks. Due to their adaptive nature, they are threatened by several attacks, such as Modification, Black Hole attack, Wormhole attack, etc. The Wormhole attack is one of the most dangerous active attacks in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET). In this thesis, we describe a secure and efficient approach for detecting the wormhole attack in MANETs. The algorithm is implemented in a popular on-demand routing protocol called DSR (Dynamic Source Routing). In this approach, we provide a solution by sending the Hound Packet following the Fibonacci series and also modifying the table entries to store them in sorted order, making route discovery faster.
